Little things
Sometimes it’s the tiniest things that give us joy. As John and I learn to navigate our new reality through cancer treatment, it’s really easy to let the bad stuff (and there is plenty of that) take center stage. I’ve never been very good about developing a “practice” with much of anything, including meditation, gratitude, journaling, and such.
Noticing those little moments in every day that provide joy is an easier practice for me. It might be something that one of us says or hears that is insanely funny to us. Or just a tiny moment of kindness from an unexpected direction. Sometimes it’s just accomplishing that ONE THING from my to do list that has been looming in the back of my mind. And sometimes it’s something I find online.
Here is today’s. I ordered some yarn last week and noticed these little knitting needle tip protectors. Corgis! How could I not buy them?
Aren’t those just the cutest things ever? I found them at Miss Babs. That pretty purple yarn is also Miss Babs, her Sojourn cashmere/silk fingering blend. The pattern is a Hitchhiker, which is a good mindless knitting project for when your brain has exploded from all the things swirling around that need doing.
Here’s the yarn that came with the little corgis.
Isn’t THAT pretty?? It’s also Sojourn, enough for a good-sized shawl. Because who doesn’t need a big-assed cashmere silk shawl to wrap up in? The color name is Bloodstone. I don’t have a pattern picked out yet, but it will be one where I can use every last inch of this stuff. Yes, it was ridiculously expensive. No, I don’t feel one bit guilty.
Here’s the resident corgi for reference, exercising his couch privileges (about the only kind of exercise he enjoys- he’s a lazy potato).
Until next time! Maybe next time I’ll explain why I’m reading Emily Dickinson, Karl Marx, and Leo Tolstoy all at the same time.

Awwwww! Cute. 👍
Love your post and I love yoga too
