Buttons
I promised to tell the story of the buttons that I’m going to use for my sweater-in-progress.
Here’s the sweater:
I have the body done, and I’m partly done with the first sleeve.
Here are the buttons.
And here is the sweater that they formerly belonged to.
It was never a flattering sweater. NEVER. And now that I’m 60 pounds lighter, it’s just plain ridiculous. So I cut the buttons off. I also deconstructed the sweater, and now I have close to 2000 yards of Black Water Abbey Irish wool yarn to use for something that I’ll actually wear.
Those buttons were designed by a goldsmith especially for that pattern. They are silver, with real garnets, and probably cost more than the wool for the sweater. So they deserve to be used for something nice.

I completely understand the importance of finding the perfect buttons for a knitting project. They are beautiful, and they match perfectly with your sweater.
I laughed about the cost of the buttons in comparison to the yarn …. The pompom on my hat is probably 2x the cost of the yarn ….. but I love it and always get compliments.
Love the new sweater and congrats on your weight loss …. Yay!!!
