The Green Thing
And it’s done!
Project Details:
Pattern: Vanilla sweater, by Corinne Tomlinson
Yarn: Rauma Finullgarn, color 4122. I used 7 skeins
Needles: US 3, size 2 for the ribbing
Started: August 2022. Yes, it sat in timeout for a number of years
Finished: November 14, 2025
Modifications: Once I got past the yoke, I just went with the Force on both body and sleeves. The original pattern has much wider sleeves, which I’m not fond of, as well as a split hem with seed stitch. I did a non-split ribbed hem, since I think it looked tidier, and it matched the ribbing of the crew neck.
This is the sweater that might convert me to top down sweater patterns. I lost 60 pounds after I started this sweater, and was able to just rip back the body and readjust so it actually fits. I still haven’t quite sorted out in my brain what size I need to choose to fit, so top down construction was helpful.
This will be a wardrobe staple. I could actually see having a few of these in my closet. It’s warm, but not so warm that I couldn’t wear it in spring and fall
My next sweater is already well underway. It’s that pretty silver grey yarn I showed a few posts ago. I’ll show my progress next time.

Congratulations! It looks lovely.
Great color on you!
