Another week
Another grocery pickup.
Life got a bit life-y this past week. We had family visiting, then more cancer-related bullshit, and the next thing you know, it’s Monday again, with a new cycle of chemo due to start tomorrow. Sometimes it feels like all I get done is chores from the to-do list, so it’s nice to be able to show a photo or two of actual knitting progress.
I just have the buttonhole band to finish, then blocking, sew in a few ends, sew on those fancy buttons, and it will be a finished sweater.
I think it’s going to fit perfectly.
Picking up button band stitches is NOT my favorite thing to do. I got out my knitting books, read all about how to do this properly. It involved knitting a swatch of the band, blocking the whole mess, measuring the gauge of the sweater and the band, then doing math to figure out the proper ratio of stitches to pick up.
Did I do any of that? Hell no. I just winged it, as usual. Generally this involves two or three tries at it, which in my mind is STILL easier than the “proper” way. Surprisingly, I got it right on more or less the first attempt.
I’m hoping to finish this this week, but we’ll see. It’s also about time for another WIP* parade, in which I drag out all the things I’m working on and photograph them, but I’ll save that for next time.
I’m off to the dentist. Another thing to check off that to-do list.
*Work in progress

As a certified Master Hand Knitter I am absolutely appalled that you would just wing it. I know the proper way to do this and I have done it. Well, once for my certification. Every other time I wing it just like you do. Nine times out of ten it works.
You look so pretty!!!!!!
